
The Technical Excellence Practice Lead is a strategic and delivery-focused leadership role responsible for building, shaping, and leading Pulsar’s Technology Practice, with a core focus on our ServiceNow implementation capability. This role blends consulting excellence with hands-on delivery leadership. Serving as the senior engagement lead for major projects, defining and executing the practice strategy, supporting pre-sales and business development efforts, to grow a high-performing technical team. Ensuring the Tech CoE delivers consistently exceptional outcomes for clients through mentoring, governance, quality assurance, and innovation across the UK, South Africa and other regions.
What you'll do
- Practice Leadership & Strategy
- Build, lead, and mature the Technology Centre of Excellence, centred on Pulsar’s ServiceNow implementation methodology.
- Develop and execute the strategic roadmap for the Tech practice, including capability development, service offerings, tools, frameworks, and innovation initiatives.
- Define and maintain high-quality delivery standards, best practices, and technical governance across all projects.
- Collaborate closely with the Consulting & Delivery Director to align practice growth with organisational objectives.
- Engagement & Delivery Leadership
- Act as the senior engagement lead for key client projects, ensuring successful end-to-end delivery across IT-focused engagements.
- Oversee solution architecture, delivery planning, risk management, and quality assurance for complex ServiceNow implementations.
- Provide expert guidance and thought leadership to clients on technology strategy, architecture, and digital transformation.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and mentor a team of technical consultants, architects, and developers supporting the practice’s delivery commitments.
- Establish a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and peer review within the practice.
- Drive recruitment, onboarding, career development, and talent management for practice members.
- Perform quality reviews, provide technical oversight, and support professional growth of team members.
- Pre-Sales & Business Development
- Support the development of proposals, solution outlines, and Statements of Work.
- Participate in client pitching, discovery sessions, and scoping workshops.
- Work with sales and consulting leadership to refine positioning, pricing models, and go-to-market offerings for the Tech practice.
- Workforce & Resource Management
- Plan for delivery demand based on pipeline; identify capability gaps and resourcing needs proactively.
- Oversee resource allocation to ensure optimal utilisation and effective deployment of technical resources.
- Manage capacity planning, ensuring readiness to support delivery and growth objectives.
What we're looking for
- Proven experience designing and implementing ServiceNow GRC/IRM/Risk modules.
- Strong architectural knowledge of the ServiceNow platform, including data models, ACLs, workflows, and integrations.
- Demonstrated expertise in risk, compliance, and audit frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, SOX, GDPR).
- Hands-on experience across key GRC applications: Policy & Compliance Management, Risk Management, Audit Management, Vendor Risk Management.
- Proficiency in JavaScript, Flow Designer, and REST/SOAP integrations.
- Strong documentation, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Familiarity with Agile and/or DevOps delivery models.
- ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist – Risk and Compliance.
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA).
- Experience integrating ServiceNow with external risk tools or regulatory data feeds.
- Understanding of ITSM, SecOps, and broader IT governance domains.
- Background in enterprise risk, audit, or compliance functions within regulated environments.
